A Merry Freelance Christmas
My name is Richard Wylie and I work as a Localisation Project Coordinator in the Content department here in the Berlin office. In order to reward our had working freelance translators, editors and photographers we spent some time in content HQ this month making individual gift packs to send all over the world.
The content team currently has over 50 freelancers who collaborate with us from all over the world, from Finland to Thailand, from Andalusia to Australia. They collaborate with us in editing and optimizing tours for the website and translate hundreds of tours daily in up to 14 different languages. In addition our freelance photographers travel to the far corners of the world to experience GetYourGuide tours firsthand and are responsible for all the amazing photos on our tour pages and headers.
Freelancers contribute a lot to content at GetYourGuide. In October we conducted a survey to get some feedback on what motivates them and subsequently we looked into ways to reward our best performing freelancers and came up with the idea of the “goodies package”. In the survey our freelancers told us that amongst other things they loved working with our product and listed it as one of the main reasons why they collaborate with us. What better way to give something back to reward their passion and commitment than with some GetYourGuide goodies!
Tracking down updated postal addresses, arranging T-shirt sizes and vouchers was a logistical challenge but myself, English Editor extraordinaire Phil and office hero Mandy managed to arrange it all to get it posted on the first week of December, so plenty of time for the packages to wing their way to Thailand and beyond!
Thanks to the speed of Deutsche Post, we have already received our first feedback which has been very positive!
We thank all our freelancers for their excellent contribution in 2016, and look forward to a great collaboration in 2017!
Richard and the Content Team.
