Customer Service office

Our Customer Service team helps make our customers’ trips hassle-free and unforgettable. They are a close-knit, passionate team representing 36 nationalities and 30 languages; a team in which everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas. To enhance this collaboration and provide a more inspiring environment, our customer service office was recently revamped. We repainted all of the meeting rooms, carpeted the entire office, and re-furnished the welcome area, just to name a few of the renovations. We also added a new training room to give us more space for training all of our newcomers! If you’d like a chance to become one of these Newbies, please apply here.

We spoke to Sélim Carrel, a Customer Service Representative, about working life at the new Customer service office.

Could you tell us about the recent renovations made to the Customer Service office?

The renewed office is awesome! Especially now that it’s getting more crowded here, the atmosphere is great! - We outfitted the main office space with new desks and new chairs for the agents, we put in some new carpets, and we gave the walls a fresh coat of paint! We also updated all of the meeting rooms with new furniture and some pops of color on the walls.

New office look

How have these changes impacted your day to day at the Customer Service office?

The “opening” of the new kitchen is a big help as the other one was starting to get a bit overcrowded, but in the end we’re comfortable, and having a blast! We also refreshed our second kitchen which helped breakfast and lunchtime run a bit more smoothly!

Where is your favourite part of the newly improved office? Why?

The area with the new couches built out of Euro-pallets is really nice and definitely fits the Kreuzberg style pretty well! - Please see below picture of said pallet space.

New space to relax

How would you describe the current working environment at the Customer Service office?

We’re getting ready for this summer (which is our “high-season” as well) so that will be pretty challenging, but with all the new people coming in and the preparation we’re putting into it, we will be fine!

What’s it like working in the heart of Kreuzberg?

It’s a  big change from our last office in Mitte, but in a good way: we’re not quite as central as we used to be, but there are way more choices for lunch and after-work drinks! Pörx, the bar next door, is probably very happy we’ve moved in and almost feels like a supplier at this point!

Teams working together

What is the best thing about working as a Customer Service Representative?

Direct contact with a customer who is happy. We’re lucky to be in touch with people that are on holiday and that are, for the most part, having a good time. If we can help them when they encounter difficulties, they are usually very grateful and you can’t put a price on hanging up the phone with a smile! All the outside-of-work activities, from organized sports to the Christmas and Summer Party, office events, and of course the (by now) legendary Friday update make working here more fun!

How would you describe the Customer Service team in general?

It’s young, fun, and friendly, which is evidenced by all of the time we spend together outside of work! We are growing a lot, and fast, which means we have to work to integrate the newbies into the pack as quickly as possible, but it’s not that hard with the different team events we have here! What has been your most memorable team event?

I would probably have to say the Christmas Party, especially since Customer Service dominated the talent show (mad props to the performers as I was actually not part of the show)! The organization was awesome and the party was a big success; I am already looking forward to next year’s festivities (though I recommend trying to take the next day off if possible!). - You can see the winning performance here

What advice would you have for someone who wants to work for GetYourGuide as a Customer Service Representative?

If you enjoy direct contact with people over the phone, are easy-going, and good at keeping cool, this job is made for you! Complicated situations do arise from time to time but if you can keep your cool you’ll be more than fine! And last but not least, enjoy all the benefits of working in an exciting company with a start-up atmosphere and great colleagues.
