Following on from Part 1 of our APAC Meet The Team, today we are focusing on our Hong Kong and Bangkok team members. As mentioned previously, our Asia-Pacific team really works together to remain as one team all working toward the same goal while sharing the same vision and values.
Hong Kong office (Alvin Wong, Country Manager Greater China and Japan): I am responsible for the Hong Kong office, taking care of China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. My role is more than sales, we also spot interesting activities and attractions that our customers will love and introduce these attractions to them in the best shape, making sure all their experiences are amazing.
Bangkok office: The Bangkok team includes:
Abhi - Area Manager APAC - SEA.
Poon Rungruangpol - Account Manager, Thailand.
Vicky Cao - Account Manager, Vietnam.
Vincent Sim - Account Manager, Malaysia & Indonesia.
Bangkok office: We are currently ensuring that the wide array of products we have on GetYourGuide in Southeast Asia really is the best for our customers. We want to make sure that they don’t need to shop anywhere else to find something they are looking for. Unfortunately, in Southeast Asia, there is an abundance of poor quality products where tour operators care more about making money than making the customer happy. We make a point to ensure we are working directly with attractions and tour operators instead of resellers and intermediaries. This way we are able to control the quality and standards of the products we are serving on GetYourGuide.
Hong Kong office: We just opened the office a few months ago and there are lots of projects happening. We are working on acquiring the coolest activities in town along with some organising and optimisation. We are also working on building and maintaining relationships with our local suppliers.
Hong Kong office: My day starts by jumping out of the bed and refreshing with some delicious Hong Kong food. I check my schedule and emails to make sure all urgent cases are followed up on. Then, I start to dig deeper into what is missing for visitors when they come to a city, how we can acquire new opportunities and what is the best way to present them.
Bangkok Office: We start the day by first making sure that anything important and pending on our side is taken care of. This can be either from the Head Office or from our suppliers. Once that is done, we look into our destinations and focus on tasks that we know will have the biggest impact on growing our market. This can range from us acquiring the right product, optimising our existing inventory, or looking into the data to see where our next opportunities lie. After 2 PM Bangkok time is when the Berlin office wakes up, so we make sure to take advantage of communicating with them during this time for speedy communication.

Bangkok Office: Be open to change - As we are growing so fast, and testing out a multitude of opportunities, it is important for us to be open to change. We have to know that what we are doing right now might not be the same thing we will be doing in 3 months time. That means having an open and positive attitude to be able to move fast and execute.
Hong Kong office: As a local expert and ambassador, I aim to move GetYourGuide further into our region quickly, and to bring amazing experiences to our customers here.
Bangkok office: Immerse yourself in the role. Always put yourselves in the customer’s shoes to see how to best improve the customer experience. How do you do that? By testing our amazing tours and activities of course!
Hong Kong office: Think about the way you would like to live, the company you would like to work in, the colleagues you would like to work with and what kind of person you would like to be in 10 years.
Bangkok office: Every Tuesday we have breakfast as a team and watch the Friday Update Recording. The breakfast certainly makes up for the beer and pizza we miss out on in the Berlin office!
Hong Kong office: By grabbing the opportunity to connect with our colleagues! The Friday update is an awesome way to remain connected with the rest of the company too.
Bangkok office: The energy! You can tell that everyone in the company knows the exciting journey we are on, and what we are striving to accomplish. A day in GetYourGuide is always filled with excitement and adventure.
Hong Kong office: The culture, definitely! You know you are working with the coolest people in the best company in the world! We are all so connected, regardless of the distance. Come and join us, you’ll be amazed!
Both offices: We are building a truly amazing product and are helping our customers all over the world to turn their trips into amazing experiences. Stay curious and go ahead and join our amazing APAC Team!
