Internal growth and career development are really important to us here at GetYourGuide. We always aim to ensure that employees are given considerable opportunities for personal and professional growth within our company. To give you some insight into what career development at GetYourGuide looks like, we spoke to our Supply Operations Manager Luana De Rosa all about her career progression so far.

I am a Supply Operations Manager with a focus on Connectivity. I manage a team of specialists whose main responsibility is to take care of our products’ configuration and make sure that all our API integrations are up and running; we want to enable our suppliers to give customers easy access to excellent travel experiences. To do so, we have set up a cross-functional team made up of Operations, Product Managers and Developers.
I started at GetYourGuide as a Quality Manager almost 3 years ago. The team was made up of 2 people at the time, but it has grown and evolved a lot since then. Within a year or so we became 3 and we are now a team of 10 people (Exciting, right? :)).
At the time my role was to support the Sales team and our suppliers with their questions and to help them set up their products on our platform. With time I had the chance to work very closely with a product manager and a team of developers and got involved in more technical projects. My role became more and more specialised until I got promoted to Connectivity Expert and then to Supply Operations Manager.
Everything happened in a very natural way. My key objective has always been to make sure that we offer a high-quality experience to our customers from the booking to the actual tour. I had the chance to see how important it is to have the right system in place to support real time availability. Without going too much into details, when I became a Connectivity Expert I was basically owning the operational side of the API integrations and, to do so, I had to learn how everything works behind the scenes!
My team is relatively small and I am definitely proud of my 2 Specialists. The challenge is making sure that the foundations we build now, will be scalable in the future, but I am confident and positive that this will be the case. In a more technical way, I know that API integrations will be key for Tours & Activities and I am looking forward to seeing how this will evolve at GetYourGuide.
Be passionate, be positive (because there are days where it seems like everything is breaking - I've had many of those days in these 3 years :)) and be curious; never stop asking why we are doing something in one way and not the other. Challenge yourself and the others!
I get asked this question in many interviews and I always give the same answer:
Big thanks to Luana for speaking to us about her career development with GetYourGuide! If you would like to work with us you can find all current openings here.
