Paris: working in an iconic city

Paris: working in an iconic city

Nicknamed “The City of Lights,” about 47 million tourists from around the world flock to Paris each year hoping the city measures up to all they imagined. The Sales team located in our Paris office are committed to ensuring Paris delivers, and then some. In today’s post, they share their experience working in a place that tops so many bucket lists.

What I like most:

I particularly enjoy coming to the office everyday because of the beauty of our city. Our office is located in the heart of Paris, and on my morning walk to work, I see Montmartre and the Sacré-Coeur Basilica. I cannot say it enough — Paris is the most beautiful city in the world.

The Challenge:

Working in one of the world’s most visited cities can also be challenging. Many attractions have millions of visitors, long lines, and are public institutions. These challenges encourage us to be creative. We come up with innovative solutions and ideas that help us overcome any hurdles. It inspires us to think and look outside the box! Each new day is different from the day before.

What I like most:

A huge pro to working in Paris, and what motivates me the most, is making customers happy. And, in Paris, there are so many! For example, during the summer we took our lunch break in the Tuileries gardens next to the Louvre Museum. I loved getting to observe all the tourists who were so excited to live in the "City of Lights" for just a few days.

The Challenge:

On a daily basis, one of the biggest, and best, challenges is working hard to ensure the reality of Paris as our customers experience it matches the Paris they have been dreaming about for years.

I do this by maintaining my passion for the customer, aiming to meet all customer wishes when they want, where they want, and to work with our partners to make things easy in terms of technology. We work to find incredible activities with the best terms and to guarantee the highest quality of service to our customers, so they not only come back to GetYourGuide, but to Paris itself.

What I like most:

The greatest perk of working in the Paris office is learning more about French culture, landmarks, architecture, gastronomy, etc. everyday, and getting to do everything I can to ensure visitors enjoy our country as much as we do.

The Challenge:

There are many pros to working in Paris, but I also love the French Riviera, Lyon, Bordeaux, Corsica, Strasbourg, the Loire Valley Castle, the Alps, and so many other beautiful places. The challenge is getting all of these great areas out of Paris’ shadow and helping them shine!

What I like most:

The biggest pro to working in Paris is the variety in our day-to-day work. Working with institutions, big tourism companies, cruise companies, as well as smaller entrepreneurs is really interesting. We all share a passion for tourism and the travel industry, and we all want our customers to enjoy their journey, but we have to adapt to each partner and adjust our speech to each group we meet.  Switching from one group to another can be really fun.

The Challenge:

The biggest challenge for me are the long sales cycles involved in working with French institutions. Building trust takes time. That being said, I learn more and more about patience every day!

Thank you Cécile, Marion, Marguerite, and Céline, for sharing what it’s like to work in Paris. Interested in working in the most beautiful city in the world? Check out our open positions.
